VIC:Two die in separate Vic car accidents

MELBOURNE, Dec 31 AAP - A five-year-old boy on a bike and a woman driver have died
in two separate new year's eve car crashes in Victoria.

The young boy died after he was hit by a four-wheel-drive while riding his bike at
a caravan park in Inverloch, south-east of Melbourne.

Police said he was struck by a Jeep Cherokee as he approached a t-intersection about 6.30pm.

The driver of the car, a 43-year-old Rowville woman, has been assisting police with
their investigation.

Police said in the other fatal car accident, at about 8pm, a woman believed to be in
her 30s was driving along Baldocks-Grossers Road, Serviceton, near the South Australian
border, when her car ran off the road and rolled several times before stopping in a paddock.

She was the only occupant of the car and died at the scene.

Her death brought Victoria's holiday road toll to seven and its annual road toll to
288, two more than for the same time last year.

The fatal accident involving the boy will not be recorded in the road toll.

(EDS: The national road toll period runs from 0001 December 23, 2011 until 2359 January
3, 2012, local times, in line with the Australia New Zealand Policing Advisory Board.)
