A `BLEEDING HEART' FOR CHILDREN.(CAPITAL REGION)

The children of COCOA House in Schenectady will get a new home soon, thanks to Rachel Graham and a team of volunteers who spent the summer renovating a single-family home on Stanley Street. COCOA (Children of Our Community Open to Achievement) House offers 30 school children each year in the Hamilton Hill neighborhood extra help with homework and a chance to interact with the Union College students, who volunteer as tutors.

Graham began the program six years ago when she was a sophomore at the college. Two years ago, she got support from Schenectady Inner City Ministry, which is providing funding and technical assistance …
