China sets up an Internet information regulator.(TOP NEWS)

China has set up an agency for monitoring Internet-related information, according to a report in Xinhua. The State Council General Office announced that this agency will be known as the State Internet Information Office and will coordinate and direct web content. It will also oversee the development of web videos, Internet streaming, and audio, among others. In addition, it will impose penalties on Web sites that breach norms and guidelines and help telecom operators boost the process of IP address distribution, domain name registration, and Internet provision.
